The festival "Beethoven autrement", entirely online and free of charge, is dedicated to the 250 years of the German composer. At this occasion, the Opéra de Rouen Normandie streamed "la 7ème symphonie" by the Polish conductor Marzena Diakun and "Cosmos" with the pianist Shani Diluka, and the Indian râgas : Mehboob Nadeem on sitar and Mitel Purohit on tablas.
"la 7ème symphonie"
Beethoven Symphony n°7 in A major, op. 92 was composed between 1811 and 1812 during a spa treatment during which he tried to cure his nascent deafness, Ludwig van Beethoven wrote this symphony in a patriotic gesture. He conducted it himself at its premiere during a charity concert for the wounded soldiers of the Russian campaign in 1813. The entire rendition of "La 7ème symphonie" by the extremely talented Polish conductor Marzena Diakun is available on the Opéra de Rouen Normandie's Youtube channel.
"Cosmos"
In this concert, the pianist Shani Diluka invites the listener to a new dialogue between Beethoven and India. Although the composer never visited India, he was interested in its culture, even going so far as to copy mystical texts on man and the cosmos into his notebooks, so fascinated was he by the depth he could find there. To explore this little-known relationship, Shani Diluka performs two of Beethoven's iconic sonatas, the Moonlight and the Appassionata, by relating them to ragas associated with nature. Sitar and tabla blend harmoniously with the piano in this spiritual journey that invites one to open up to others. "Cosmos" is also available on Youtube.
