FEDORA's Activities

A series of events exploring the impact of AI on science, culture, and the arts will be taking place in Paris this weekend, organized by the ministry of culture :

February 6 & 7 – Scientific conferences
February 8 & 9 – Cultural weekend with roundtables on Culture & AI and Generative AI – The Information Challenge

AI is revolutionising the performing arts world, and former winners of the FEDORA Digtial Prize sponsored by Kearney and in collaboration with the IMZ - Music and Media have already been trailblazing in this area:

- Laila (winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2020, led by The Finnish National Opera & Ballet) is an interactive opera where AI adapts music and staging to the audience’s movements

- Out of the Ordinary (winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2021, led by The Irish National Opera) – is a virtual reality opera using generative AI to personalize the experience based on individual emotions and subconsciousness of audiences

- The Sound Voice Project (winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2023, led by Sound Voice) where AI recreates the voices of people who have lost their voices

We support this mission of exploring new territories of artistic expression thanks to the help of AI to push artistic boundaries and nurturing human creativity. From enhancing accessibility to reimagining storytelling, AI is a catalyst for new forms of interaction.

How do you see AI shaping the future of the performing arts?

The Sound Voice Project, Winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2023

An immersive digital-opera installation created with partners in healthcare, technology, science and biomedical research, and people with lived experience of voice loss. Dynamic integration of voices from across the globe in an ever-changing and evolving work of art.

Out of the Ordinary - As an nGnách, Winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2021
Out of the Ordinary harnesses the creativity and life experience of diverse Irish communities that currently have little or no connection to opera. It uses cutting edge technology as a tool to distil and present their stories. It results in the world’s first ever VR community opera.
Laila - Immersive Installation, Winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2020
We create a universe within which things can happen uniquely to you. Depending on what you say, depending on how you move within the space, depending on how you interact with other visitors.”
