Kearney's event:

On 29 June 2023, Kearney (sponsor of the FEDORA Digital Prize and pro-bono expert partner of FEDORA and Opera Europa’s Next Stage Initiative) invited Tina Lorenz, representative of Staatstheater Augsburg, and Justine Touchon, Members and Development Manager at FEDORA, to an exclusive event in their offices in Munich.

This event was the occasion to discuss about virtual reality in the arts and about Staatstheater Augsburg’s project “Erwartung”, FEDORA Digital Prize Nominee 2023. The project focuses on how to apply the concept of immersion to opera, through a single-player VR game that allows users to embody the heroine of Arnold Schönberg’s musical monodrama, “Erwartung”. This initiative enables people to experience opera in an interactive and playful way.

Programme of the evening:

Adrian Kirste, Partner and Managing Director at Kearney, started by introducing the event.
Then, Justine Touchon, Members and Development Manager at FEDORA, gave a presentation of FEDORA.
Finally, Tina Lorenz, from Staatsheater Augsburg, spoke about the “Erwartung” project.

"Erwartung" pushes the concept of immersion into opera into a new dimension. The project is based on a single-player VR game that allows users to not only passively experience Arnold Schönberg’s musical monodrama, but to play it, to embody its heroine and to interact with the story in completely new ways.
