Blue and white passion

A journey back in time to the early 70s on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of FCM's European Cup victory with Nadja Gröschner.

On 8 May 1974, 1. FC Magdeburg achieved the unbelievable: They were the first and only team from the GDR to win the European Cup against AC Milan in front of less than 5,000 spectators in Rotterdam. On the way there, they defeated Breda, Ostrava, Stara Zagora and Lisbon. With the ‘Blue and White Passion Trail’, the Theater Magdeburg takes you on this journey once again and wants to immerse yourself in the year 1974 together with them: Always with us is a replica of the trophy that the stars of the evening were allowed to lift into the air at around 10 pm.

The evening will start in front of the former Centrum department stores', one of the largest department stores in the GDR and a place of pilgrimage for fans from May 1974, as the trophy was on display here. After a stopover at the Alter Markt, you will head to the flag monument on the Elbuferpromenade, where the dancers of Klub 5, who have been busy with football choreographies in recent months, are waiting. From there, you will cross the Elbe to the FCM cult pub Silkes Zolleck, only to listen to the genuine Machdeburjerin Henny Thiele a few minutes later. So join them as they recount the journey of the 1st FCM together with Nadja Gröschner, but also the circumstances of life in the 70s in various episodes and thus celebrate the legendary victory once again 50 years later.
