Emilio Calcagno

Short Bio

In 1995 he joined the Ballet Preljocaj where he performed on the most prestigious stages before taking charge of pedagogical activities and European projects.

He produced sets such as Peau d'Âne in 2012 presented at the Théâtre de Chaillot, "Les petites histoires de..." inspired by Tim Burton's work in 2018. In 2018, he created The 4 Seasons or the Marriage of the Wolf with 15 dancers from the Tunis Opera.

He weaves links between bodies and the land according to his questions, whether they are geographical, disciplinary, psychological, or cultural.

In 2021, he was appointed Director of Dance at the Opéra du Grand Avignon. In 2023, he conceived the "7*7" project where he invites 7 choreographers to share the stage with 7 Ballet dancers and signs the choreography of the Opera Three Lunar Seas directed by F. Roels.
