Short Bio

Ziad received his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the American University of Beirut in 1995, where he won the Areen Award for excellence in design. He received his M-Arch at Harvard University (1999). He is co-founder and partner of L.E.FT Architects based in Brooklyn and Beirut. He worked for Steven Holl Architects for Simmons Hall dormitory at M.I.T (winner of the National AIA Design award and the New York AIA award). He taught at Cornell University,PennDesign,University of Toronto,MIT- Aga Khan Program,and Yale. He's currently Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture. He's recipient of the 2002 Young Architects Forum Award and 2010 Emerging Voices Award from the Architectural League NYC for top emerging architects in the USA. L.E.FT Architects was 2009 Finalist in the Young Architects Program of MoMA, 2010 Design Vanguard from the Architectural Record Magazine and Finalist for the 2010 I.Chernikhov Prize for the top 10 firms in the world.
