Nicole Morel

Antipode is thrilled to reach new horizons and to connect to a broader network thanks to FEDORA and its very attentive team. "Nicole Morel, Artistic Director"

Antipode explores the relationship between bodies and their environment through transdisciplinary dialogues. It deconstructs and reconstructs gestures, movements, and spaces, to inspire unexpected ways of being in relation to another. Despite tackling contemporary burning issues, humor and poetry are integral to the work, which delves into how we perceive space, whether natural, architectural, social, intimate, imaginary, or contextual. Antipode has created several pieces for theater stages, outside, clubs and museum spaces. They have reached all regions of Switzerland as well as international stages in Germany, Czech Republic, Australia, Brazil and Colombia. Nicole Morel is the choreographer and artistic director of Antipode. The company is a resident and co-managing member of Studio Danse+ at Coopérative la Maison des Artistes in Fribourg, Switzerland. Antipode is supported by Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council, Corodis, Commission Romande de diffusion des spectacles, État de Fribourg.

ABOUT "A Journey on Moving Grounds"

In the public space, four performers construct an island of white geometric polystyrene blocks. Then rupture. The elements spiral open and move apart. Various rhythms and images reveal in the course of progression. Bodies in motion meet and must compose together. Architect and set designer Lea Hobson crafted the scenic landscape, which Nicole Morel brings to life.

The performance merges sculpture and living bodies emphasizing the vulnerability of our present.
