“ICK is thrilled to join the FEDORA network and be in dialogue with new partners and audiences. Our wish is to discover how the strength and the vulnaribility of the intuitive body can meaningfully react to the innovation of opera, dance and theatre.”
Emio Greco | Pieter C. Scholten, Directors
The International Choreographic Arts Centre (ICK) is a platform for contemporary dance under the vision of choreographers Emio Greco | Pieter C. Scholten. ICK Dans Amsterdam produces international dance performances together with its dance ensemble and a junior company (ICK-Next), supports the development of young choreographic talent, and offers research projects (including new technology) and educational projects. ICK is based in Space for Dance Art, where performances, club nights, lectures, workshops, and symposia are presented.
During their joint career of more than twenty years, ICK's directors Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten have operated very successfully internationally and closely monitored developments in contemporary dance worldwide. This has led to many international tours of theaters and festivals on all continents, as well as research projects with many international partners, universities, and institutes. The strong international network that ICK has built in this way is an important aspect of what ICK can offer to the top choreographers, supported talent, and researchers working under its name.
Two hundred years after Géricault’s death, the story of The Medusa and its survivors continues to resonate in our consciousness. Here, dance captures this fervent urgency of living, accompanied by exceptional musicians, expressing our modern-day ‘We’, whether ecological, scientific or political.
