Co-OPERAtive is an opera hub for a mixed group of 60 young Athenians and unaccompanied refugees aged 15-17. The art of opera will function as a common language of the first intercultural youth opera hub in Europe. Co-OPERAtive aims to broaden opera’s appeal to adolescents, highlighting cultural diversity and social cohesion.
This opera hub will accommodate intensive training in music, dance, and theatre that will culminate in the staging of the first original intercultural and collaborative opera created by a youth opera company and inspired by its dreams and aspirations. Foregrounding the collaborative nature of opera, Co-OPERAtive places collaboration at the heart of its design and implementation by building strong alliances with two partner organisations, ARSIS and The HOME Project.
