"Dutch National Opera & Ballet has been a proud member of the Fedora Platform for several years. Over the past years, we have been able to create significant awareness around the operas Upload and The Shell Trial due to the shortlist nominations of these productions for the Fedora Opera Prize. Additionally, thanks to the support for roadshows such as the celebration of Keti Koti and the International Young Patrons Gala, we have managed to produce engaging content surrounding these events." Stijn Schoonderwoerd, General director

Over 600 staff members at Dutch National Opera & Ballet work on creating top-quality performances at an international level, in the fields of opera, ballet and related musical and dramatic arts. Our mission is to enrich the lives of as many people as possible with the wonder, beauty and meaning of opera and ballet. We do it by bringing song, dance, music, acting, language, technique and design together in the “live” interpretation of human emotions. In doing so, we offer our audiences an emotional, intellectual and sensory experience which transcends everyday life and can touch both the hearts and minds of people. In order to realise our mission, we work according to the following core values, which determine the way we work: Driven and committed We go far in our pursuit of excellence, where the definition of “quality” is not to be taken for granted but is rather an inherent part of our artistic process. Polyphonic and curious We work with stories, creators, professionals and artists from all disciplines, cultures and traditions, we challenge ourselves, we love to experiment, and like to collaborate with young talent. Open-minded and generous We welcome as many people as possible in the most hospitable way possible, we exchange our knowledge and expertise with others on a national and international level, and we cooperate according to principles of equality. Efficient and sustainable We deal with people and resources responsibly.

DISCOVER OUR ON-GOING SEASON
The 2023-2024 season of Dutch National Opera & Ballet, we bring back beloved opera and ballet classics and provide a platform for new works by leading creators. This season we offer more room for experiment and collaborations with diverse talent in our new intimate venue: Studio Boekman. In 2023-2024, we program 14 opera productions and 11 ballet productions.

For the opera season, we aimed for the right balance, with new operas addressing burning societal issues and new productions of the core repetoire, from Handel to Wagner. The Dutch National Ballet presents a season where famous classics, ballets by contemporary icons, and experimental works alternate.

SUPPORT OUR ORGANISATION
Culture inspires, moves and brings people together. That's why at Dutch National Opera & Ballet, it is our mission to engage as many people as possible and take them along on a journey into new worlds filled with singing, dancing and stage design. To enable this for our public, we need the support of donors, foundations and investors. With their help we can continue to create new productions and world premieres, encourage young talent development through The Dutch National Opera Studio and the Junior Company, and organize educational matinees and other projects for schools, performances for refugees, and participation projects.
