Every year since 1948, the Festival d’Aix has been boasting a programme of great diversity: opera productions, Mozart operas and early works, major creations, rediscovery of Baroque masterpieces, chamber orchestra operas and exceptional series of concerts. The Festival caters for an ever growing enthusiastic audience of 86,000 spectators in 2018 and was awarded “Best festival of the year” by the International Opera Awards 2014 in London. With its Académie, the Festival supports the emergence of young talents; with its educational and socio-artistic programme (Passerelles), it deploys local actions to open the opera towards an ever more varied public. It wishes to see its opera productions thrive in our contemporary world and travel widely to prestigious national and international venues. Since 2014 the Festival has become a leading actor in eco-staging in the opera world (100% recycle sets in 2018).
