Presentation
The EVA & ADAM youth project brings together three groups of young people for a major musical theatre project. Together with young people from Munich with and without migrant backgrounds, under the guidance of director Jessica Glause and composer Benedikt Brachtel, young refugees develop a musical theatre piece, which will celebrate its premiere with the Munich Opera Festival in 2019, and in the following season will then be staged in further performances, guest appearances and presentations. EVA & ADAM completes a trilogy here, which began with NOAH in 2016 and continued with MOSES in 2017/18. As in the first two projects, the young people get to grips with cross-religion material, which appears in equal measure in the Torah, the Bible and the Koran. Youngsters from more than ten countries (Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Kosovo, Serbia, Togo, Nigeria and Germany) with different religious and cultural backgrounds and the most diverse school and training levels of education in ages from 14 to 25 go back to the origins of human history. Beginning with biographies of young people searching for their place in the world, EVA & ADAM asks the question about a new start in a strange world and the possibility of an emancipated co-habitation, not just for the two genders, but also for different religious communities. The musical theatre project combines music and arrangements from Joseph Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with new compositions and musical ideas of the young people. They take to the stage as performers, soloists, choir singers and orchestra musicians and develop and rehearse the piece over a rehearsal period of four months.
