Opera Truck 2.0 © Martynas Aleksa i
Presentation
During the pandemics Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre was trying to find new ways to reach the audience. The idea of opera performed in a freight container carried by the truck was developed and implemented. La Serva Padrona by Giovanni Batista Pergolesi has been implemented and performed with a great success on several occasions.
We seek to expand upon this project by adding repertoire adapted for opera truck setting, as well as updating opera truck as a technical solution to include integrated sound reinforcement system. Main objective of the project is to develop the idea of this innovative
solution - a mobile stage - by joining early chamber opera and adapted staged technology.
We are planning to add another opera to the truck repertoire - La liberazione di Ruggiero by Francesca Caccini (first woman opera composer). This will allow to further experiment with this mobile stage format. We are also aiming to integrate sound reinforcement system aimed for acoustic music to be dispersed within the comfortable visible radius of opera truck stage, and to implemented this with the help of integrated microphone and loudspeaker system.
This project will also benefit from collaborative approach by including Riga early music centre as a production partner to stage new work, which will add new perspectives to working in this setting. We are also planning to organise a tour with old and new production to see, how the idea works in different urban settings.
